The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, wrote: “Christmas to me is the reminder of God’s great gift,—His spiritual idea, man and the universe,—a gift which so transcends mortal, material, sensual giving that the merriment, mad ambition, rivalry, and ritual of our common Christmas seem a human mockery in mimicry of the real worship in commemoration of Christ’s coming” (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 262).
Bring your questions to this live audio chat to explore how we all can understand and honor this true idea of the Christ at Christmas, which uplifts us spiritually and brings peace and healing to our lives.
About Diane Marrapodi: Throughout her life, Diane has experienced, firsthand, the value of approaching life from the spiritual perspective taught by Christian Science. She cherishes the fact that God's love and the truth of Christian Science are unchanging, eternal, and universal—available to all. The Bible and Mary Baker Eddy's discovery of Christian Science, recorded in her book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, were the basis for Diane's reason for hope and healing of grief when she received word of her brother's suicide. Several years later, this same Science sustained her after a serious car accident, when the doctors who first treated her held out no hope that she would walk again or be in full possession of her mental faculties if she lived.
The constancy and effectiveness of Christian Science and its healing application led Diane, right out of college, to devote her life to its study, teachings, and public practice—serving first for a decade as a Christian Science nurse, and then as a Christian Science practitioner since 1981 and a teacher since 1985.
