On February 7, 2014, the world’s attention will be on the Winter Olympic Games at Sochi, Russia. The Olympics are generally thought of as a time for nations to come together through friendly athletic competition. It can also be a time for world citizens to come together in prayer. Each of our prayers about a range of issues—for the good sportsmanship and success of athletes, for the opportunity for greater peace and unity among nations, for the safety of athletes and attendees from terrorism—can be a powerful force for good at the Olympics.
Join with others in prayer for the Olympics, and listen (and bring your questions, too!) to this live chat with Marie Helm, a Christian Science practitioner and teacher who divides her time between Las Vegas, Nevada, and St. Petersburg, Russia.
About Marie Helm: Marie found her spiritual home in a Christian Science Sunday School as a teenager. When the Soviet Union began to open up in the 1990s, she had unexpected opportunities to visit and work in the Russian Far East. Everywhere she visited, people asked about her faith, and she began receiving requests for healing. In 2004, Marie began serving as a Christian Science practitioner in St. Petersburg, Russia, and in 2005 began lecturing throughout the Russian-speaking field as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship. She became a teacher of Christian Science in 2006.
Marie and her husband have two grown children, and she currently lives in Russia six months each year.
